Cannon 2/24

If you live in New Hampshire and weren't skiing today then you wasted your entire day.  At 8:30am after over 24 hours of consistent snow, the mountains were killin it.  Not only that but it continued to dump the fresh stuff all day.  We didn't get first tracks on Mittersill but we got plenty of fresh lines with snow piled above our knees.  By 11:00, after several hours of metaphorical shred-sex with all of the powder on Mittersill, we - drunk with excitement -  headed back to the main mountain and continued to yell quotes from GNAR at everyone we saw.  The entire rest of the day was filled with fresh powder lines and Jack Honey Whiskey.  Today was by far the best shred day of the year and more snow is in the forecast for Tuesday/Wednesday, so go and shred right now.

Plymouth Ski Day

Ski day was pretty rad today.  The entire mountain of Cannon was filled with a plethora of drunk, yelling and dancing college kids.  One dude and his crew were raging ski blades in 80's outfits bumping Journey.  The Rail jam took place as always and had a few pretty gnarly features including an up-box to gap propane tank.  The girl working the signup table by the ticket counter was very convincing in peer pressuring helpless park rats to enter (thats how she got me).  Props to Simon Norton and Spenser Cook for first and second place.  All in all the day was great and weather was outstanding, sunny at times and snowing at times with delicious stashes all day.

Mount Snow Life Part 2

A little edit from last year, my brother rippin the board and my best bud rippin the skis.  Unfortunately because of school I could hardly shred Carinthia with them last year but at least I got to film a few shots of this in the beginning of the season.

Money

An attempt to blog my thoughts:

Today the topic of of money came up among my friends and I and I realized yet again how ridiculous the idea is.  After the first time I tripped boomers I began really understanding how stupid the idea of money is, pieces of paper with supposed value.  The concept of money and how it literally controls everything that goes on in our lives, without money you cant even survive unless you got some gnarly survival skills.

we talked about how the US owes more money than even exists in American Dollars and how every time they need to tap into what we call the "Federal Reserve" the amount is taxed by something like 9%.  Im just baffled by the fact that we (the US) can somehow continue to spend and tax money that doesn't even exist, in order for us to pay off the national debt we would have to spend ridiculous amounts of money in order to begin making some back.  If this is the case then whats the point of having a national debt or even using money for that matter, this to me just says that money is a non-existent, irrelevant system that is extremely flawed.  If the United States government and everywhere else in the world can spend money that doesnt even exist then whats even the point?  But somehow this monetary system controls the entire economy and our way of living. think about it, a college campus for example creates up to thousands of jobs at the campus and the surrounding town, a ski resort brings tourism and creates hundreds of more jobs.  I guess what I'm trying to say is that almost everything that exists today directly correlates to the economy and everything we do has become the economy.  In order to be what many would call "succesful" or to start a family, one has no choice but to become a part of the economy.  As fucked up as the idea of the economy is I wonder if life could work without it?  It might take a serious plague or zombie apocalypse to figure that out.

20 Rules of Shrediquette

I found most of this list on Transworld.com and added a few of my own.  Dont forget your shrediquette while on the mountain!

1. Never call last run.
2. You can always go faster.
3. Don’t steal people’s shit
4. Going shredding on opening day regardless of the conditions will increase your odds of scoring powder that season.

10. You’ll never regret taking one more run, unless you actually call last run.

11. If you’re hooked up, hook up your homeys.

12. If Ski Patrol chases you, don’t get caught.
13. If they catch you, act sorry.
